How to - Living a Active and Good Life.

For most of us, during our early years, we have been busy working, raising a family, or just trying to get by. We never thought it necessary, never had the time, and therefore not enough emphasis was placed on keeping our bodies physically fit. Exercise was not in our vocabulary

The Surgeon General of the United States once said, "That more people die of a sedentary lifestyle than deaths caused by smoking." You have heard the expression, "The Golden Years", however for too many they can become tarnished, which is unfortunate.

As we grow older, the most simple things we used to do, become harder and harder for us to do. Putting on your socks and shoes, or getting into a pair of trousers can be a chore. Ordinary household tasks that we used to take for granted become more and more difficult for some to perform. How then are we to prevent this tarnishing of our lives? Well people, to live a healthy and vigorous lifestyle we must start to move our bodies more.

Think of your body as a fine piece of machinery or even an automobile. If you don’t use that machine or automobile, what do you think will happen? Yes, of course, it starts to rust and slow down. In our bodies, nature starts it’s own insidious little processes. The fluids in our joints start to decrease, and in some cases disappear entirely. Arthritis, rheumatism, stiff joints are just a few of the indignities we suffer.
One of the most important things is flexibility. Without flexibility, we lose our ability to move properly and our quality of enjoying life suffers greatly. In order to remain flexible , we must move our muscles, joints and ligaments. The only way to do that is to move our bodies more.

How can we do that? Start with everyday simple tasks. Say you are within walking distance to your bank, beauty parlor, or any store for that matter, then by all means walk to that bank, beauty parlor or store…DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR! If you live on a lower floor, then walk down and then up. If you live on a high floor, start by walking down one flight, then take the elevator. When you return, get off on the floor below and walk up. You can increase the floors as you increase your stamina. Try to take a walk after breakfast or dinner if you can. It will do you a world of good

For those of you who have access to a pool, by all means use the pool whenever possible. When you do use the pool, be sure that to swim and move around and not just stand motionless. If you can’t swim, walking in the pool is an excellent form of exercise. Be sure to move your arms as you walk. The most important thing of all is motivation. You have to motivate yourself to improving your health and living a vital and vigorous lifestyle.

What better way to do that than starting an exercise program that will only take 15 to 20 minutes of you time. WHAT A GREAT INVESTMENT! Remember please, dedication and motivations are the keywords in becoming more vigorous and enjoying a better quality of life. The sooner you start your exercise program, the sooner you will reap the benefits. Before you start an exercise program, check with your Physician or Chiropractor and discuss it with him or her.

The 15 to 20 minutes you invest daily will be returned in better muscle tone, more strength, more flexibility, increased fitness, greater vitality and better health. At what Bank or Mutual Fund can you get such a return on your investment? THINK ABOUT IT?
