You were
on your way home—maybe from work, maybe from picking up dinner—when it
happened.
A flash. A screech of tires. Darkness.
You died.
It wasn’t
painful. Just sudden. One moment you were here, the next… not.
Then, you
woke up.
Not in a
hospital. Not in a tunnel of light. Just... somewhere. Quiet. Endless. Still.
And I was
there.
“Where am
I?” you asked.
“You
died,” I said calmly. “But don’t worry. Everyone does.”
You
looked around—no walls, no sky, just you and me. “So, is this the afterlife?”
“In a
way,” I said.
“Are
you... God?”
“Yes.”
Your mind
jumped to the people you left behind. “What about my family? My wife? My kids?”
“They’ll
be okay,” I said. “They’ll cry, yes. But they’ll also heal. Life will go on.
And they’ll remember you with love.”
You
nodded slowly, emotions swimming behind your eyes.
“Do I go
to heaven now? Or hell?”
“Neither,”
I replied. “You’re going to be reincarnated.”
“Wait...
like, back to Earth?”
“Yes, but
not just ‘again’. You’ll go as someone new. You’ll live another life. And then
another. And another.”
Your eyes
narrowed. “So how many lives have I lived?”
“Oh...
hundreds. Thousands. Every kind of life imaginable.”
You
frowned. “But I don’t remember them.”
“You’re
not supposed to. Not yet. Each life teaches you something. And when you’ve
lived them all—every single one—then you’ll understand.”
“But…
why?” you asked. “What’s the point of all this?”
I looked
you in the eye.
“Because
this universe, all of it, was made for you. Every person you’ve ever
met? Every person you’ve ever helped, hurt, loved, or ignored? That was you
too. You’re not one person in the world—you are everyone.”
You went
quiet.
“Every
life you live adds to who you are. Your kindness, your cruelty, your laughter,
your heartbreak—all of it helps you grow.”
You
swallowed hard. “So... I’m all of them?”
“Yes. And
once you’ve lived every life that ever was or will be, you’ll be ready. You’ll
be born. Not as a human, but as something more. Something like me.”
You
stared at me.
“Wait… so
this whole universe…”
“Yes,” I
said.
“It’s an egg. And you’re growing.”
Then, with a gentle nudge, I sent you on your way—back into another life, another lesson, another step toward becoming everything you were meant to be.
Reflection for Readers
What if
we are all connected?
What if your kindness to a stranger is actually kindness to yourself?
What if life isn’t just something to survive—but something to grow through?
What if, in the end, it really is just you and me?
