THE PROBLEM WITH BEING PERFECT - MEL ROBBINS

The fear of disappointing people is actually double-sided: 1. Some of us use it as a strategy to avoid making a scene. We would rather disappoint ourselves than others, so we sweep our own feelings away.

The second thing we do is try to be perfect to completely avoid criticism. This is something that will completely prohibit you from making big strides in any area of life. Why? Because it prevents you from being your authentic self, from trying to grandest ideas, and for believing in a vision only you have.

In this vlog, we talk about how perfectionism is not only unattainable, but also a mechanism we use to avoid hearing things that won't harm us, and how we can fear criticism but still push past it because it is inevitable and necessary to living your fullest life.

What I’ve also come to learn is that people can be disappointed in you, and still love you. You’re never going to get around this. You will always have people in your life that are going to be disappointed by you. But you have the ability to restructure how you respond to that trigger every time you fear disappointing someone.
