Ranking The Fastest Supercars

Everyone loves supercars, which run at super high speeds. One of the most important indicators of car performance is the acceleration rate taken from a stationary state to 100 kph. The performance has been updated year after year, with some supercars now reaching 100 kph in less than three seconds. Canada’s pop culture website, TheThings(https://www.thethings.com/ranking-the-fastest-supercars-in-2020-0-60-times/), has released a ranking of 19 supercars that boast the world’s fastest cars.

#19: Lamborghini Aventador SVJ (2.7 seconds)

From a long distance, you will be able to recognize the Lamborghini-like designs. The Aventador with a 6.5L V12 engine at 760 horsepower is a limited edition model with only 900 units. The car has less horsepower than other supercars, but can achieve top speeds of over 348 kph by relying on superb aerodynamics. All four wheels are equipped with a 4WS that responds to steering maneuvers, ensuring stable driving regardless of speed.

#18: Acura NSX (2.7 seconds)

The NSX was ranked among the Acura series, Honda’s luxury overseas car lineup. Its powertrain is a hybrid and the 3.5L twin-turbo V6 and three electric motors provide a total of 581 horsepower. The NSX has a relatively spacious interior with a supercar-like appearance. You do not have to twist to get on and off the car, which means that the driver’s comfort is taken into consideration.

The GT-R Nismo has raised its horsepower to 608 in the latest model, and achieved faster speeds by using carbon fiber parts and improved aerodynamics. The shape of the turbine wheel was improved by collecting data from Nissan’s global GT3 Customer Racing Program.

The McLaren P1 is a monster machine with a beautiful, smooth curved exterior that produces 1000 horsepower throughout the entire hybrid system. Powered by a hybrid 3.8-L-twin-turbo-engine and two electric motors, the vehicle’s weight was completely reduced, eliminating unnecessary parts such as fenders. As a sports car, the air-conditioning control features a graphic of a driver wearing a helmet, showing a sense of humor.

Pagani’s famed Huayra has gained further power with the BC version emphasizing its streamlined style. This is not a hybrid vehicle, but its 6L AMG V12 engine alone produces 811 horsepower. A new material, called carbon triax which is good in its lightness and strength, has been adopted to reduce its weight by 132 kg based on dry weight. The BC was named for the initials of Benny Caiola, a friend and the first customer of the founder.

The McLaren Speedtail’s windy design not only inspired the beauty of its appearance, but it also achieved the most aerodynamic design ever produced by the car manufacturer. The entire hybrid system can produce 1000 horsepower and deliver a maximum speed of 402 kph. As the spiritual successor to the McLaren F1, the model has been uniquely finished, leaving the inspiration of race car, with the cockpit placed at the center of the vehicle.

#13: SSC Tuatara (2.5 seconds)

The SSC represents Shelby Super Cars, a manufacturer of the car. Because of the shape of its rear spoiler, the model name “Tuatara” was derived from the local name of the lizard that live in New Zealand. Butterfly doors, which rise forward around the bottom of the A-pillar, are the vehicle’s main features. The 5.9L twin-turbo V8 engine produces a staggering 1369 or 1774 horsepower, depending on the fuel used.

The 640 horsepower output does not imply outstanding performance, but by reducing the air resistance to the maximum limit with its smooth body shape, the car has achieved the ability to drive up to 100 kph in 2.4 seconds.

#10: Porsche Taycan Turbo S (2.4 seconds)

The Porsche Taycan Turbo S is relatively affordable for its price and is often compared to Tesla’s entry-level Model S as an EV supercar. For an owner who is looking for exterior elegance, this model will be a viable option. The car has a relatively short range of up to 300 kilometers, but it’s enough to enjoy driving around in the city. In terms of power, the electric motor alone produces a relatively high 761 horsepower.

#9: Bugatti Chiron (2.4 seconds)

The Bugatti Chiron has a maximum speed of 420 kph, making it the fastest mass-production model on the market today. In fact, the car has a higher speed performance than this figure, but as there are no equivalent tires at the moment, the Chiron’s top speed has been artificially restricted. The source of its speed lies in the powerful 8L quad-turbocharged W16 engine. While the maximum output is staggering at 1500 horsepower, it also costs a whopping 300 million yen.

This hybrid car produces a 962 horsepower with a combination of the 6.3L V12 engine and the electric motor. The roof part is removable and has an interesting design that allows it to be stowed in the hood.

Hennessey Performance is a relatively new automobile manufacturer founded in 1991. The American automaker began to show up in the high-speed car rankings on its GT models starting around 2014, and its car exceeded the maximum speed of 300 mph (483 kph) on the Venom F5. Rarely any other model could achieve this level of performance. The car is the ultimate one with an astonishing 1842 horsepower.

The car is equipped with the same powertrain as the Rimac Cocept 2, born in Croatia.

#3: Tesla Roadster (1.9 seconds)

The Roadster is a supercar that is not known for family-oriented Tesla vehicles, but is more speed-oriented. The car is capable of driving a quarter of a mile (402 meters) in 8.9 seconds, with a top speed of approximately 402 kph. With a high-speed performance but a large battery capacity, the model boasts a reliable range of 1000 kilometers. Similar to the model S P100D, the car is equipped with three motors. The four-wheel-drive system allocates one motor to the front wheels and two motors to the rear ones.

#2: Rimac Concept Two (1.85 seconds)

The Concept Two enhanced Rimac’s reputation by achieving an acceleration of 100 kilometers in less than two seconds. The car has the same powertrain as the fourth-ranked Battista, but its 1941 horsepower output is slightly higher than Battista, showing better acceleration performance. The model uses carbon material throughout the body, but the actual weight of the car is slightly heavier at 1950 kg. However, the car’s advanced torque control technology gives it a light feel while driving.

#1: Aspark Owl (1.7 seconds)

The Owl, a Japanese supercar, was awarded an honorable top rank. The full EV model has a 100km acceleration of 1.7 seconds and is the fastest car in the world. Owl’s output of 2013 horsepower is only second to Lotus Evija’s.This car is manufactured by Aspark, an Osaka company founded in 2014. The manufacturer that won the top spot on a list dominated by major carmakers, is quite unique in its ability to operate in a wide range of sectors, including pharmaceutical and IT development.
