Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Crypto currencies, in general, have been somewhat of a mystery since it takes a bit of technical savvy to understand what it even is. If you understand its a different kind of currency then that's a start. However, understand the basic principles of how it works will give insight to the security and long term viability of the asset. This is very much true when it comes to the finite number of coins that is totally available creating a situation where the currency will hold value as opposed to one where more currency could be printed and dilute the value.
