Komodo Dragons are largest existing lizards


Komodo Dragons, the largest existing lizards on the earth, number about 6000 as per the World Animal Foundation Estimates and live in the Komodo National Park in Indonesia

The 219,322 hectare park covers the islands of Komodo, Padar, Rinca and Gili Motong, the surrounding waters of the sape straits and part of mainland Flores. 

The remarkable dragons are about three meters(10 feet) long, weigh in at up to 135 kgs(about 300 pounds) and their life span is about 30 years.

The giant lizards have inhabited the region for millions of years.
